The Murders of Molly Southbourne
by Tade Thompson

Lovers of horror novellas with a splash of Sci-Fi should definitely pick up this surprising novella.  I'm surprised I haven't seen this around the reading community more!

Publisher: Tor
Publish Date:  October 3, 2017
Paperback
117 pages
Series:  Molly Southbourne #1
Genres:  Science Fiction, Horror

Goodreads Synopsis:

Every time she bleeds a murderer is born. Experience the horror of Tade Thompson's The Murders of Molly Southbourne.

The rule is simple: don't bleed.

For as long as Molly Southbourne can remember, she's been watching herself die. Whenever she bleeds, another molly is born, identical to her in every way and intent on her destruction.

Molly knows every way to kill herself, but she also knows that as long as she survives she'll be hunted. No matter how well she follows the rules, eventually the mollys will find her. Can Molly find a way to stop the tide of blood, or will she meet her end at the hand of a girl who looks just like her?

My Review:

You know, I say over and over again that I prefer full fleshed out novels over novellas and short stories but I have been surprised over and over again these past couple of years with novellas that just end up shoving my initial statement down my throat and making me choke on my own words.

This novella is only 117 pages.  Admittedly, I had a little trouble with the writing style at first and I think this may deter some readers.  However, I highly recommend you stick with this story because it really makes quite the statement at the end.  Once I got used to the style, I became fascinated with the storyline and could feel the gears shifting in my brain as I came up with all kinds of scenarios of why these things were happening.  I certainly wasn't expecting a couple of things and YES to the sci-fi aspect!  Thank you, Tade Thompson, for making this such a unique and horrifying read!  My bloody, black, horror loving heart adores this... and THEN I see book 2 may be coming out?  Tentatively titled The Survival of Molly Southbourne?!  I'm extremely intrigued to see where this storyline could possibly be going.
