Review: Water Under The Bridge by Britney King

Water Under The Bridge by Britney King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Hot Banana Press

You know those moments when you correspond with an author on Bookstagram and they send you a copy of their book and you hope to everything that it's good?  And then you know that moment, when you read what they wrote and it IS?  That's what happened here - so excited now to get the other two book in this trilogy.  Britney King has a wicked mind and I suggest you visit it for a bit.

Kate and Jude, upon first sight, immediately know that there is something special and unique about each other that will pull them together. Kate is a bad girl, looking to "settle down", wanting a husband, house, kids.. the works. Here comes Jude, not sure what he wants, besides Kate, but he knows he has to have her. They both have secrets and both like to be in control. Can their intense, obsessive love overcome these issues, or will they find that they bring them closer together even if a power struggle comes into play?

Seen through alternating chapters of Kate and Jude's POVs, we get an in depth glimpse into their psyche and daily struggle, not only within themselves, but with each other. The novel starts with them in court for their pending divorce - but how did they get to this point? Thus begins their tenuous journey from chapter one on, delving into their beginnings and how quickly things can go awry when both people in the relationship are sociopaths. The writing style is different as in there is only a small percentage of dialogue. While I do like to have this, Britney does a fantastic job of keeping you within the story and propelling you from chapter to chapter without it being necessary. And I do LOVE me a sociopathic couple whose bond goes deeper than just keeping house. The novel doesn't seem very plot driven other than seeing their relationship ebb and flow with the ferocity that their personalities ooze... which is the perfect set up for books two and three in this romantic suspense thriller trilogy. I most certainly will be continuing their saga as I love being in the minds of both of them. Love or hate them, Kate and Jude will keep you wondering what they are up to next and when, and if, they can ever stop themselves from giving in to their basic nature. Personally, I hope they don't >:).

Huge thank you to the author for this gorgeous signed copy in return for my honest review.
