Review: Twittering from the Circus of the Dead by Joe Hill

Twittering from the Circus of the Dead by Joe Hill
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
William Morrow

What a unique way to write a short story.  Strictly through tweets.  140 characters or less for each posting from a teen girl on a road trip with her parents, ending at the Circus of the Dead.  Damn, if I don't love Joe Hill's mind.  I wish I liked short stories more.  While the few here and there really get to me, most don't... so really this is just a preference rather than a testament to his writing.  Love Joe Hill?  Spend a couple bucks and get ALL his short stories.

Decided to do a quick read of Joe Hill's while waiting for my flight. I don't know what it is about short stories that just.don' This one was interesting as it was told strictly in twitter format - a girl tweeting about her family's road trip that led them to the Circus of the Dead. (I do love that he says twittering instead of tweeting though 😁) It did go full circle and I liked the premise for the most part but once I was done, I just thought "well there's that". Did I like it? Yes. Did it actually complete without leaving me hanging? Yes. Was I wowed? Not really. But I can appreciate how it was written and it just gives me one more reason to never go to the circus. Point made!
