Dr. Herbert West: Re-Animator, legend, genius…and childhood menace? In this spine-tingling tale, young Herbert creates a botched serum which cause the dead to walk the streets in search of Johnny Cakes. Together with his sister Elizabeth and the Dean of Arkham University they must stop the zombie army before they run out of cakes and start eating townsfolk!

My Review:

It's been a hot minute since I've sat down and just enjoyed a graphic novel.  Reading it cover to cover.  Looking at all the details in the illustrations.  I feel just like a kid again!  But back then I was reading all the Archie comics, Far Side, Calvin & Hobbes, Garfield... etc. etc.  You know, kid-ish stuff!  I wish I had these when I was younger but who cares _ I have them now and YAY!!

I loved the zombie like creatures saying GROAAANNNN - I don't know why this kept tickling me but it did.  Maybe it's because I need some levity in my life right now that Dr. West and his sister kinda won my heart. Y'all remember the Re-Animator movie(s) right?  Based on Lovecraft's story.  (Horror confession: I still have yet to read Lovecraft yet I know of his stories from being a horror lover - which sounds like I'm banging my head against the horror door but I promise you I've stepped through.)

You can't stop West from doing what he was born to do and this colorful journey with him and his sister was just a joy to read.  A horror graphic novel gift that I opened with care and then played with immediately.  And one thing we all know, you can't stop West from doing what he was born to do - at least you can't 98.825% of the time. 😉
