RECIPE: Homemade Meatballs!

MEATBALLS!!

Really, one of the easiest and tastiest things to make for any group occasion!

I decided to make some homemade meatballs over the weekend and had several inquiries for the recipe so here you go!  I hope you love it - I personally think these came out SO GOOD!

INGREDIENTS:

1 pound ground turkey
1 pound ground beef (I used 90/10)
1 cup milk
2 tbsp cheese (I used some leftover mexican cheese mix I had laying around)
1 cup Progresso Italian Breadcrumbs
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 small yellow onion, chopped
Salt and Pepper to taste (approximately a teaspoon of each, but I probably used closer to 2)
1 tsp dried Oregano

Sauce:

18 oz. Grape Jelly
18 oz. Hickory Smoked BBQ Sauce
Crushed Red Pepper

STEPS:

Preheat over to 400.

Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.  If you don't like the feel of raw meat on your hands, use gloves!  If you don't mind it so much, then make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before AND after handling your meat. 😉 (Really, these are words to live by for any occasion.)

Cover a couple of baking sheets with aluminum and be sure to coat them with a cooking spray - I used coconut oil spray for mine.

Roll meat mixture into 1-1 1/2 inch balls, placing them about an inch apart on the sheets.

Throw those bad boys into the oven for about 20 minutes!

While they're cooking, get another mixing bowl out and add the full contents of the Grape Jelly (I used Welsh's) and the BBQ Sauce (I used Hunt's Hickory Smoked).  Whisk them together and then add the crushed red pepper to taste (I like heat so I try to add a LOT when just cooking for myself - why not just get the spicy bbq sauce? because this way is SO MUCH BETTER).

Once the meatballs are finished, take them out and let them sit for a bit and cool off (you don't have to but this way they don't stick. etc.).  Place them into the crock pot.  Add the sauce mixture and make sure all balls are coated.

Set on high for 2 hours and then EAT THEM ALL!
